Nintendo To Release Pokemon Red & Blue Soundtrack On Vinyl

The original Pokémon Red and Blue 8-bit soundtrack is to be released on vinyl later this year.

The album, which will feature every track from the 1996 games, is being produced by Moonshake Records. The album cannot be purchased yet but there is a notification service available to tell consumers when it comes in stock.

Moonshake Records is only producing 500 copies of the album which will be sold at $49.95 (£34.52) each. The artwork resembles The Beatles Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band with Nintendo characters, and the vinyl itself will be pressed on red and white swirled wax to resemble a Pokéball.

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of the Pokémon franchise with Nintendo releasing Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow on the 3DS eShop, as well as special edition 2DS consoles and a New 3DS bundle, to mark the occasion.
